Cancer informationOncology is the study of neoplastic disease.  It is the study of a large variety of malignant tumors with lethal potential.  Cancer cells arise in virtually any body tissue at almost any age.  In general, the cancer will invade other tissues by direct extension or spread through either the blood or the lymphatic system.  As we humans are getting better at controlling infections (which used to be the main cause of death), we are living longer on average and the longer we live the more chance there is of a cancer developing.  The cancer information that is presented here is merely a small sampling of the many and various types of cancer.  We have attempted to present the main information about the most common types of cancer in order to give a general understanding.  Keep in mind that each specific cancer arises in a particular place in the body and although we group cancers according to the body tissue they originated in, a “one size fits all” approach to the treatment of cancer is not advisable.  Each person in unique and has both advantages and challenges in their general health, age, lifestyle and habits.  Each of these issues will impact a person’s tolerance to specific therapy or their willingness to participate in lifestyle or behavior changes that might be recommended.  Dr. Navneet Sharda develops a specific plan of action for each patient based on many different factors.  Sometimes he will recommend aggressive detoxification, other times specific herbal or ayurvedic remedies in addition to the traditional USA chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments.  He is a strong proponent of the surgical management of cancer when it is in early stages and the patient’s health can tolerate the surgery.

Dr Navneet Sharda is passionate about early detection and early lifestyle changes.  If a patient can be encouraged to give up high risk behaviors such as tobacco and frequent alcohol intake, they are much less likely to develop a cancer in the first place, and are significantly more likely to tolerate cancer treatment.  Early detection has conclusively shown to improve survival after cancer treatment and the treatments are easier to tolerate if the cancer is found in the early stages. In reviewing the cancer information presented here, it should become clear that the smaller and more localized a cancer is, the fewer effects it has on the body and the less aggressive the cancer treatment needs to be.  We at Cancer Care Center of Las Vegas wish you good health and long life.
